Audioboost has recently updated its audioplayer, making it fully accessible across all browsers and compliant with the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) specifications. This improvement ensures that over 66 million monthly users in Italy can listen to content from their favorite websites, including individuals with disabilities.
The update has been designed to facilitate on-page activation for individuals with visual, auditory, and motor disabilities, offering an interface tailored to each user’s specific needs. Compliance with ARIA guidelines allows simplified navigation and easier access to audio functions via assistive technologies such as screen readers and alternative keyboards.
Cristina Pianura, CEO of Audioboost, stated:
“Thanks to the collaboration with AccessiWay, a company that supported us through the long and complex procedures to make our technology accessible, Speakup-Article™ is the first audio player in Europe compliant with the European Accessibility Act, as it meets all the necessary requirements to be fully aligned with the new regulations.
Key benefits of the new audioplayer include:
- Cross-platform compatibility: Usable across all operating systems and browsers, ensuring a consistent experience regardless of the device used.
- Inclusion and accessibility: Compliance with W3C ARIA specifications ensures the audioplayer is accessible to people with disabilities, allowing them to navigate with greater independence and ease.
- Improved user experience for everyone: The audioplayer is more intuitive and functional, enhancing the listening experience and activation speed.
This update reaffirms Audioboost’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive experience for all users, in line with the European Accessibility Act, which will come into force in Italy in June 2025.
